Set in France, the Sahara, and the USA, this trilogy follows an innocent, provincial young woman as she adapts first to life as a vet in Paris, then to the new self she was not aware of, and finally to motherhood. Anything but predictable, she, her partner, and son are forced to face their deepest fears as they become ensnared in their family histories and the nightmare of international terrorism.

In the first part of this trilogy, Marie-Claire establishes herself in the Capital of Light to get swept up in an unlikely romance with an exotic top model with a sad secret. But as they adopt a small orphan boy, their little family proves to be all but idyllic as each character’s past keeps haunting them.
